Final Post...Yay

Over Spring Break I was able to finish my second book. Unfortunately though I did not have access to a computer to blog after every reading so I will give an overview of the final section of the book. Amory falls crazily in love with a woman named Rosalind, but her mother wants her to be with a wealthy man so that doesn't last long. Amory turns to alcohol but is stopped by Prohibition. He begins to read more and ignites a fire in himself again. Amory meets another woman from France. They seem to be the perfect match for each other, but they are unable to continue their love for each other because he has to leave. Amory nearly has a run in with the law to cover for a friend. He gets off scot-free though. The book ends with a section about Amory going back to princeton because he wants to provide people with security. He reminisces of all the things he lost throughout his life. The last line of the book is, "'I know myself,' he cried, 'but that is all--'" I thought this book was pretty decent.

Overall I thought my reading habits improved. It definately got me more involved with books in general. But i'm glad it's over. Peace brosef

Devil is Among Us

The titles to these chapters are really weird. Anyway. The chapter begins by Amory leaving Isabelle to end the affair. Amory fails a test and rediscovers himself; he decides to reapply himself to school. A very saddening thing happens when Amory's father dies and he attended the funeral with no emotion. This doesn't concern him but his family's finances are way down and this does draw his interest. They made some bad investments. While Amory is out with one of his drunken friends, he freaks out and thinks that the devil is following him. Upon returning to Princeton, Tom also sees the devil watching him. Burne Holliday begins to protest by quitting clubs. This makes Amory angry, and reignites his inner flame. Amory and Burne become extremely close friends. Amory visits a poverty stricken woman in Philadelphia and falls in love with her, even though she does not love him back. The war comes to America and people are forced to enlist. Amory and Tom bid farewell to Princeton and enlist. This concludes the first book of the series.

Gaining Social Status

I've been reading at a crazy fast pace lately because I have to finish this assignment before I leave for Florida for Spring Break. Amory moves in at Princeton with his roommates, Kerry and Burne Holiday. They try to get established in their class, but they fail at football and the newspaper. They decide to have fun and enjoy college. Amory discovers a new friend in Tom D'Invilliers, a hardcore reader. WWII begins but neither characters take a very big notice to it. Amory joins the Triangle Club and travels the country with his musical group. He meets a lover in Minnesota named Isabelle, and they send letters frequently. Amory and his classmates make a trip to the coact his sophomore summer with no money, but survive nonetheless. Amory's classmate Tom dies, and then Isabelle comes to go to prom with him. They are such lovebirds.

New Book Starts Today

My new book is titled This Side of Paradise. The story starts by developing the main character of the novel, Amory Blaine. He is the son of Beatrice, and their hometown is Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. His mother provides a very good education for him which sets him apart from his peers. Amory decides that he wants to go to a boarding school in New England. He struggles to fit in there. He manages to get better and becomes the star of the football team. He devises his own definition as the "slicker." Amory decides to attend Princeton despite his classmates' urges to attend college elsewhere.

The End of the Line

I had a lot of spare time this weekend so I managed to finish up my first book. Wargrave is supposedly the next to go as he is found in a chair dressed like a judge. It is determined that he was shot in the head. Armstrong is the next to go as he mysteriously vanishes from the house. Three characters now remain. Blore is crushed by a large clock as he is going to the house to fetch food. Vera and Lombard sit on the cliff waiting for help, and then they discover Armstrong's body. Vera snatches Lombard's gun and shoots him in the heart. Vera then hangs herself to put the supposed final charcter to death. The epilogue reveals the true murderer. The police find a letter written by Judge Wargrave. The letter tells that he was the murderer and how he planned out the murders and carried them all out to perfect execution. I thought this book was a thrilling mystery and I loved it!
