Over Spring Break I was able to finish my second book. Unfortunately though I did not have access to a computer to blog after every reading so I will give an overview of the final section of the book. Amory falls crazily in love with a woman named Rosalind, but her mother wants her to be with a wealthy man so that doesn't last long. Amory turns to alcohol but is stopped by Prohibition. He begins to read more and ignites a fire in himself again. Amory meets another woman from France. They seem to be the perfect match for each other, but they are unable to continue their love for each other because he has to leave. Amory nearly has a run in with the law to cover for a friend. He gets off scot-free though. The book ends with a section about Amory going back to princeton because he wants to provide people with security. He reminisces of all the things he lost throughout his life. The last line of the book is, "'I know myself,' he cried, 'but that is all--'" I thought this book was pretty decent.
Overall I thought my reading habits improved. It definately got me more involved with books in general. But i'm glad it's over. Peace brosef

Devil is Among Us
The titles to these chapters are really weird. Anyway. The chapter begins by Amory leaving Isabelle to end the affair. Amory fails a test and rediscovers himself; he decides to reapply himself to school. A very saddening thing happens when Amory's father dies and he attended the funeral with no emotion. This doesn't concern him but his family's finances are way down and this does draw his interest. They made some bad investments. While Amory is out with one of his drunken friends, he freaks out and thinks that the devil is following him. Upon returning to Princeton, Tom also sees the devil watching him. Burne Holliday begins to protest by quitting clubs. This makes Amory angry, and reignites his inner flame. Amory and Burne become extremely close friends. Amory visits a poverty stricken woman in Philadelphia and falls in love with her, even though she does not love him back. The war comes to America and people are forced to enlist. Amory and Tom bid farewell to Princeton and enlist. This concludes the first book of the series.

Gaining Social Status
I've been reading at a crazy fast pace lately because I have to finish this assignment before I leave for Florida for Spring Break. Amory moves in at Princeton with his roommates, Kerry and Burne Holiday. They try to get established in their class, but they fail at football and the newspaper. They decide to have fun and enjoy college. Amory discovers a new friend in Tom D'Invilliers, a hardcore reader. WWII begins but neither characters take a very big notice to it. Amory joins the Triangle Club and travels the country with his musical group. He meets a lover in Minnesota named Isabelle, and they send letters frequently. Amory and his classmates make a trip to the coact his sophomore summer with no money, but survive nonetheless. Amory's classmate Tom dies, and then Isabelle comes to go to prom with him. They are such lovebirds.

New Book Starts Today
My new book is titled This Side of Paradise. The story starts by developing the main character of the novel, Amory Blaine. He is the son of Beatrice, and their hometown is Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. His mother provides a very good education for him which sets him apart from his peers. Amory decides that he wants to go to a boarding school in New England. He struggles to fit in there. He manages to get better and becomes the star of the football team. He devises his own definition as the "slicker." Amory decides to attend Princeton despite his classmates' urges to attend college elsewhere.

The End of the Line
I had a lot of spare time this weekend so I managed to finish up my first book. Wargrave is supposedly the next to go as he is found in a chair dressed like a judge. It is determined that he was shot in the head. Armstrong is the next to go as he mysteriously vanishes from the house. Three characters now remain. Blore is crushed by a large clock as he is going to the house to fetch food. Vera and Lombard sit on the cliff waiting for help, and then they discover Armstrong's body. Vera snatches Lombard's gun and shoots him in the heart. Vera then hangs herself to put the supposed final charcter to death. The epilogue reveals the true murderer. The police find a letter written by Judge Wargrave. The letter tells that he was the murderer and how he planned out the murders and carried them all out to perfect execution. I thought this book was a thrilling mystery and I loved it!

The Next Two are Down
They all awake later than normal to no sign of Rogers. After searching the find Rogers' body in the woodshed with a hatchet wound in the back of his head. Vera asks Emily if she's afraid of dying, and Emily thinks to herself that she can't die because she's led an upright life. Vera and Emily prepare food, and all the characters behave politely at breakfast with nervous thoughts on their mind.
Chapter twelve begins with Emily feeling woozy as she looks out the window. She begins to feel delusional as she sees a bee outside. She then feels a prick in the back of her neck. The rest of the characters proceed to the dining room and find Emily dead. Wargrave suggests that all the characters turn in any possible weapons. Armstrong's syringe is no where to be found. They discover that it was thrown out the window, along with the sixth Indian figure. Five characters remain.

Everyone on their Guard
It was a busy weekend with sturgeon spearing and basketball, but I managed to squeak in some reading time.
All the characters put together their theories as to who the murderer is. Lombard thinks it is Wargrave because years of being a judge has caused him to lose his mind. Vera suspects Armstrong because two of the murders were by poison so that sounds like the work of a doctor. Blore suspects someone but will not tell who he thinks is the killer. Wargrave and Armstrong talk, and Armstrong looks at everything in a negative way. Wargrave thinks he knows the personality of the murderer but can't prove it. Emily sits in her room and writes in her diary. She writes some crazy things and thinks she's going insane.
While everyone is gathered for tea, Rogers rushes in to announce that a bathroom curtain is missing. This makes everyone uneasy. They eat a dinner of mostly canned food and than head to bed, locking the doors behind them. Rogers locks the dining-room door so no one can take any of the Indian figures during the night.

Another one Bites the Dust
I suspect that the characters are playing right into the murderer's hand by arguing with each other. I assume that he is hoping they turn on each other and complete some of his work for him. Armstrong goes to find Macarthur for lunch, and discovers that he was killed by a blow to the head. Vera and Mr. Rogers notice that only 7 Indian figures remain. A meeting is called and Judge Wargrave tells all the guests to go forward with the attitude that any of them could be the murderer. He then dismisses the meeting.

Killer is among us
Blore, Armstrong, and Lombard make an extensive search of the island. They discover that Lombard has a rovolver, which makes Armstrong and Blore very suspicious. As they are walking, they come along a dazed Macarthur sitting by himself. They determine that he is crazy. The search party comes to a cliff, and they send Blore back to get a rope so they can search for caves. Vera goes out for a walk and also comes across Macarthur. He talks about his presumably approaching death and basically ignores Vera, so she leaves. Blore returns to find Armstrong, who thinks that Macarthur is the killer. Lombard returns and climbs down to look for any caves. He cannot find any. They return and make a search of the house, where they also find nothing. The killer is among them. Hehe haha hoho they're all gonna die.

Consciences bear down
All of the characters think to themselves about the murderers that were announced. Whoever is behind this, I think they are a genius for getting under their skin like this. It's kind of cool. Lombard and Armstrong figure out that the first two murders correspond perfectly to the first two lines of the poem. They decide the murderer is Mr. Owen, and they are determined to find him.

Suspicions Arise
It is assumed that Marston committed suicide because he poured the drink himself. Still, all the guests go to their room and lock the door. All the characters think to themselves about the murders that they were charged with by the speaker. Rogers notices that of the ten Indians on the table, only nine remain.
Mrs. Rogers died in her sleep overnight. Rogers thinks that Armstrong overdosed her by giving her too many sleeping pills. The guests look in hope that the boat will arrive but decide it never will. As the chapter comes to a close, Rogers shows Armstrong that only eight Indian figures remain on the table.
It's starting to get really intense. I love it!

Cowboys and Indians
Chapters 2-4 saw some intense action. All the characters are introduced to their rooms, and each of them notices a poem entitled, "Ten Little Indians." The poem ends by saying And then there was one. The characters gather for dinner and notice ten Indian figures in the middle of the table. They each connect them to the poem. After dinner the guests are having after dinner drinks , and a voice comes over a loudspeaker. The voice goes on to tell of murders committed by each of the guests. The house goes into chaos as each of the characters defend themselves.
They decide that the man who invited them, Mr. U.N. Owen, is a homicidal maniac who invited them there. Wargrave insists that they should leave in the morning when the boat arrives. They all agree; except Tony Marston. He then takes a drink, chokes on it, and dies.
You know what goes with Indians right? Cowboys. Paa!! I don't know why but I thought about cowboys while I was reading this section. See, that's why I can't read long books like this. My mind wanders too much. I think there's a name for it..like ADD or something.

1st post
Over Christmas I read And Then There Were None for a half hour.
The reading showed all the characters being called to an island near Sticklehaven. At the end of the chapter there is some major foreshadowing by Agatha Christie. She all but tells us that the Robert Blore is going to die. Well now that I know someone's going to die I'm actually a little more interested in the book.
